What is destroying the rainforests... specifically?

overpopulation is making people cut down forests to make room for houses and also farmers cut down a section to plant there crops but since rainforest's have nutrient poor soil all the nutrients are used up in about 2-3 years ,thus making the farmers move on tho the next piece of forest. ...sad..i know
