The most interesting one I've read recently would be Love At Goon Park, which is the biography of Henry Harlow. You may not know the name, but he's the scientist who pioneered the use of monkeys and apes as animal test subjects, famously with the baby monkey/metal mothers experiments. He was the first modern scientist to really study the similarities of animals to humans, and his work changed the course of science.
