Should we trust the geniuses who gave us the meltdown to say what is needed to reverse it?

I am deeply concerned by talk of rushing through a $700 billion bailout plan that they say will impact up to 3 generations of americans with very little debate and handing over "broad powers" into the hands of these so called geniuses. Besides I have tingling sensation that the $700 billion dollar rescue plan is just the beginning...and there are a couple of other shoes that will be dropping.
