I can't get a tampon in! Help?

I am 12 and started my period a couple of months ago.. My little cousin is having a party and I want to swim. Well.. I have a doctors appt. tomorrow so don't tell me to talk to a doctor. I have looked in a mirror and can't stick my pinkie in there!!!!!!!! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's wrong with me?????
