Will someone help me in Chemistry?

When we talk about solutions, we say that a solute, when dissolved in a solvent, can form both true solution or colloidal solution depending upon nature of solvent. Then, why do we say that the solution will be true solution, if the solute particles have size < 1000pm & it will be colloidal solution if the solute particles have size between 1000pm to 100000pm?
